Johnson & Johnson Will Pay $9.9M to Settle Pelvic Mesh Case (1)

Johnson & Johnson will pay $9.9 million to settle allegations that it concealed risks associated with pelvic mesh devices implanted into thousands of women in Washington, the state’s attorney general announced April 22.

The lawsuit was brought under the state Consumer Protection Act, which does not provide compensation for pain and suffering. Attorney General Bob Ferguson (D) encouraged women damaged by the mesh to contact the AG’s office about seeking a share of the settlement.

About 14,000 Washington women have had the mesh surgically implanted, Ferguson said.

“We believe hundreds have been adversely impacted as a result of these devices”...
