Home Depot Beats Suit Saying It Sold Inferior Wood as Mahogany

A carpenter who alleged Home Depot deceptively passed off sub-par wood as mahogany can’t bring deception claims because he conceded he bought the wood to see if he could identify it, a federal court in California said.

Clyde Golden sued Home Depot U.S.A. Inc. on behalf of a consumer class, saying it duped buyers into thinking they were getting authentic mahogany.

But he failed to show he bought wood based on any representation Home Depot made, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California said, granting judgment for the home improvement retailer.
