GM Shakes Off Lawsuit Over Alleged Defects in Yukon Tail Lamps

General Motors LLC permanently shed breach of warranty claims in a proposed class action over alleged tail light flaws in certain vehicles, and although a federal court in Florida allowed a consumer to replead a claim under the state’s consumer protection law, it was skeptical she could successfully do so.

Rhonda Small alleges defective tail lamp assemblies on some 2017-2019 GMC Yukon vehicles can fail, preventing brake lights from illuminating and increasing the risk of a rear-end collision. She says she had to pay nearly $675 to replace the passenger side tail lamp on her 2017 GMC Yukon XL.
