GermBloc Hand Sanitizer Germ-Killing Claims Allegedly Misleading

GermBloc Inc. and parent WillSpeed Technology LLC overstate the effectiveness of their GermBloc nonalcohol-based hand sanitizers at preventing illness, creating a misimpression that’s especially problematic now, a new suit alleges.

The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the demand for alcohol-based hand sanitizer, Massachusetts resident Peter A. Lagorio says in a would-be class suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

But the Centers for Disease Control has said alcohol-free products like GermBloc aren’t nearly as effective in killing or reducing germs on the skin as alcohol-based hand sanitizers are, the suit says.
