Florida Court Certifies Homeowner Class
In Chinese Drywall Litigation

A Florida trial court May 27 certified a class of 154 Miami-area homeowners in a suit alleging that toxic gases emitted from defective drywall made in China caused extensive property damage (Harrell v. South Kendall Construction Corp.).

Judge Joseph P. Farina with the Florida Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial District for Miami-Dade County held that common issues predominate over individual ones in the suit filed by Jason and Melissa Harrell and that class treatment is the superior method of going forward with the claims.
