Companies linked to the site of a New Jersey condo complex that was found to have high levels of lead contamination agreed to pay $1.5 million to the federal government for cleanup costs, according to a filing in a court in that state.
The federal government filed a complaint Tuesday on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. The complaint sought reimbursement for the cost of taking action in connection with the release of hazardous substances at the M.C. Canfield Sons Co. site in Newark, N.J.
