European Parliament Urges PFAS Ban, Chemical Evaluation Changes

The European Union should change the way it evaluates chemicals, ban certain uses of PFAS, and find ways to curb chemicals that disrupt the hormone system, EU lawmakers said in a wide-ranging resolution adopted Friday.

The advisory resolution will go to the European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, which is developing a chemicals strategy for sustainability. The commission plans to propose the strategy later this year as part of its overarching European Green Deal plan, which aims to make the EU into a net-zero emissions economy by 2050.
