Concussion Suit Targets Lacrosse Helmet

A lacrosse helmet’s defective design resulted in a goalie’s concussion from a penalty shot, according to a suit filed Nov. 4 in a Pennsylvania state court (Avery v. Performance Lacrosse Grp., Inc., Pa. Ct. Com. Pl., 161004924, 11/4/16).

Melina Avery, a high school All-American in 2014, claims she was properly wearing a Cascade Model R helmet when the shot hit her in a match. Yet, she still suffered a concussion and post-concussion syndrome, according to the complaint.
