Canada Dry to Stop Claiming It Has Real Ginger

Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. will stop saying Canada Dry Ginger Ale is “Made From Real Ginger” as part of a proposed settlement in a certified California class action.

The settlement comes shortly before a scheduled Jan. 10 trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and after the company agreed to settle later-filed cases that involve consumers from the other 49 states.

Only a few food and beverage false advertising suits have been certified as class actions and they rarely go to trial once certified. Settlement pressure builds once a class is certified.
