Dozens of women alleging harm from Bayer Corp.'s Essure permanent contraceptive device recently won their efforts to keep their suits in Missouri and California state courts (Hines v. Bayer Corp., 2017 BL 199001, E.D. Mo., No. 4:17-CV-01395-JAR, 6/12/17; Sangimino v. Bayer Corp., N.D. Cal., No. 17-1488, 6/9/17).
More than 5,000 Essure users have filed product liability claims against Bayer, the company said in an interim first quarter report. Additional lawsuits are anticipated, the report said.
Most of the suits are in California and Missouri.
