Bayer, BASF Accused of Boycotting Seed, Pesticide Platforms (2)

Bayer AG, Corteva Inc., BASF Corp., and Syngenta Corp.—the world’s top seed and pesticide makers—were hit with antitrust claims in federal court in Illinois alleging a scheme to stop electronic distribution platforms from disrupting their dominance.

The group boycott reflects an effort to cement the control the companies have used to jack up the price of seed corn 300% in the past two decades, despite yield increases of only about a third, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
