Baseball League Dodges Spectator Suit Over Foul Ball

A youth baseball league has no liability to a spectator struck by a foul ball in a screened area of a park the league had no duty to protect, the North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled April 18 (Wheeler v. Cent. Carolina Scholastic Sports, Inc., 2017 BL 125708, N.C. Ct. App., No. COA16-827, 4/18/17).

The 2-1 decision upheld a summary judgment granted to Central Carolina Scholastic Sports Inc. on negligence claims brought by Stephen Wheeler.
