Amazon Faces Another Reinstated Suit Over a Hoverboard Fire

An email that Amazon.com Inc. sent to hoverboard buyers in December 2015 may make it liable to a Tennessee family whose house burned down, the Sixth Circuit ruled June 10.

The decision revives the family’s case against the retail giant, which obtained summary judgment in the lower court. It is the second time recently that a federal appeals court has reinstated a hoverboard fire suit.

In May, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit reinstated a similar suit that also alleged an escape from a burning house.
