Amazon Can’t Shake $3.8 Million Exploding Hoverboard Suit

Amazon.com Inc. failed to defeat another suit alleging it should be held liable for a hoverboard sold on its website that exploded.

Great Northern Insurance Co. may proceed on behalf of policyholders Dan and Danielle Perper for the $3.8 million it paid for damages to their home, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Aug. 20.

The ruling comes on the heels of three recent decisions by federal appeals courts, two of which involved hoverboards, green-lighting claims against Amazon for products sold by third parties on its site.
