The U.S. government is citing national security concerns in urging a federal appeals court to reject the latest volley in Twitter Inc.‘s yearslong legal challenge over a transparency report on government surveillance.

The social media platform’s attempt to overturn an earlier court loss in the case fails to appreciate the national security threats involved, lawyers from the Justice Department and the FBI said in a brief filed Thursday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
