Trump’s Privacy Board to Review Air Travel Biometric Tech (1)

The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board will look into the benefits and privacy concerns of using biometric technology to make air travel safer and more efficient.

The three-member PCLOB announced June 26 that it would launch three new oversight projects, including reviewing biometric use by airports and airlines, the government’s use of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data, and FBI searches of data collected under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, a 1978 law that sets out procedures for physical and electronic surveillance on foreigners abroad.
