TikTok Hopes Dashed of Including Holdouts in Privacy Deal (1)

TikTok Inc.’s hopes of reaching an accord with a group of consumers holding out of a privacy lawsuit settlement were dashed a day after the company indicated mediation might resolve the standoff.

TikTok is trying to resolve multiple class actions claiming the video-streaming app unlawfully records facial-scan images of children and sends confidential information about adult users to China.

Infighting among attorneys representing consumers threatens to drag out the settlement process as the app prepares for a possible acquisition by a U.S. company under threat of being shut down in America over national security concerns.
