The National Institute of Standards and Technology is devising data protection guidelines for companies and organizations working on emerging technologies with sensitive personal information.
The agency, which is part of the Commerce Department, said Sept. 4 the voluntary program is aimed at building user confidence about privacy protections in internet-connected devices, artificial intelligence and other products. NIST will develop further details at its Oct. 16 Austin, Texas conference, which will focus on risk management for organizations confronted with privacy issues.
