Meta Platforms Inc. faces a U.K. class action suit that alleges Facebook exploited its users personal data and abused its dominant position, in a claim that could run into the billions.

The case, to be filed at London’s Competition Appeal Tribunal on behalf of 44 million British Facebook users, will lay out how the social network only gave access to its platform in exchange for user data that generated billions in revenue, Liza Lovdahl Gormsen, a competition expert, who is bringing the collective claim, said Friday.
