Congress Weighs Limits on Facial Recognition Technology Use (1)

Facial recognition software is under increasing scrutiny from lawmakers concerned that the government’s use of the technology is curbing the civil rights of citizens, particularly people of color.

Democrats and Republican lawmakers on the House Oversight and Reform Committee say they are ready to work together to develop legislation that could potentially limit law enforcement’s use of facial recognition technology to identify individuals based on photos and videos.
