Kimpton Hotel Data Breach Claims Dismissed for Second Time

Guests alleging Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group LLC didn’t protect credit card accounts and other private information from a data breach failed, for the second time, to state viable claims, the Northern District of California said.

Jake Thomas and others alleged Kimpton contracted with Sabre Corp. to provide a reservation service. When the plaintiffs made reservations at Kimpton hotels, they provided Sabre with account information, addresses, and other identifiers. A hacker obtained credentials for Sabre and then accessed and misused the plaintiffs’ information, they said.

The court dismissed the plaintiffs’ first complaint in August, saying they didn’t support their allegations...
