Industry, Consumer Groups to Vie to Shape Data Privacy Bill

Industry groups are planning to urge House lawmakers at a Feb. 26 hearing to override state privacy laws in a prospective federal bill.

Congress should “reduce consumer and business confusion by preempting the growing patchwork of state privacy laws,” Dave Grimaldi, executive vice president for public policy at the Interactive Advertising Bureau, said in prepared remarks submitted in advance of the Energy and Commerce Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee hearing.
