IBM Hit With Lawsuit Claiming Image Use for Facial Recognition

IBM Corp. allegedly used people’s images without permission to develop facial recognition technology in violation of Illinois’ biometric privacy law, according to class claims filed in an Illinois state court.

Plaintiff Tim Janecyk alleged that he uploaded thousands of images of people in the Chicago area to Flickr, and IBM used at least seven of them without consent in violation of the Illinois BIometric Information Privacy Act, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in Cook County, Ill.
