Top Democratic lawmakers on the House Energy and Commerce Committee want to know how the Federal Trade Commission would increase privacy and data security enforcement if it had more money and staff.
“We are writing today to better understand the resources that FTC needs to fulfill its important consumer protection mission and meet the challenges posed by rapid changes in technology,” committee chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-N.J.) and Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), who chairs the panel’s Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, wrote in a letter to FTC chairman Joe Simons.
