Healthline Media Beats Suit Over Sharing of Video-Viewing Info

Healthline Media Inc. defeated a proposed class action alleging it shared information with Meta Platforms Inc. about the video-viewing histories of visitors to its website in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Plaintiff Robin Jefferson didn’t plausibly allege a claim under the VPPA because she didn’t show she was a “consumer” within the meaning of the act, Judge James Donato of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Wednesday.
