The Federal Communications Commission is warning consumers of several robocall and text scams related to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The agency on Friday said it’s received reports of spam call and text campaigns that include offers for free new coronavirus tests and that ask for consumers’ private and health insurance information.
The FCC also warned of spam robocalls asking for payment for sham cures, and spam robotexts that say the federal government plans to impose a two-week mandatory quarantine in place.
The FCC advises consumers not to answer phone calls and texts from unknown numbers, and to never share financial and personal information over the phone or via text and email.
