Facebook Users to Court: Don’t Dismiss Cambridge Analytica Suit

Facebook users suing the company over consent issues related to the Cambridge Analytica data scandal have asked a federal judge to rule against Facebook’s motion to dismiss their claims.

The plaintiffs, in multi-district litigation, claim Facebook Inc. collected their data—including videos, photos, and political beliefs—and then shared it with third parties without permission. They accuse Facebook of negligence in allowing the now-defunct British political analysis firm Cambridge Analytica to use the data to target voters to help President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.
