Disney, Viacom Reach Deals on Kid’s Gaming App Privacy Suits (2)

The Walt Disney Co., Viacom International Inc., and other developers reached a deal to end claims that they failed to get parental permission to use data collected through online games and applications.

The deal is part of sixteen separate settlement agreements related to allegations of tracking children’s online behavior and then using the information for targeted advertising, according to court papers filed Aug. 5.

As part of the deal, Disney and Viacom would ensure they meet federal privacy standards and follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. This would create an “enforceable right for all class members,” according ...
