Colonial Pipeline Doubles Down on Bid to Dismiss Post-Hack Suit

Colonial Pipeline Co. is moving once more to dismiss a proposed class action levied against it following a May cyberattack, arguing it owes no duty to consumers not to shut down its pipeline.

The plaintiffs’ duty arguments are a “patchwork of propositions from other jurisdictions” that don’t apply in Georgia or have been explicitly rejected by courts in Georgia, Colonial Pipeline argued in a brief filed Dec. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
