California Gun Database Leak Exposes Personal Information (2)

California’s attorney general is investigating the exposure of personal information connected to the update of a state firearms database.

The incident exposed information such as the names, birth dates, and addresses of people who were granted or denied permits to carry a concealed weapon permit between 2011 and 2021, Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office said in a Wednesday news release.

Data from other state databases was also exposed, including from California’s assault weapon registry, handguns certified for sale, and gun violence restraining orders, according to the release.
