Medical research would see a historic drop in federal funding under President Donald Trump’s 2018 budget proposal released May 23.
“NIH has NEVER had a cut of this magnitude,” Howard Garrison, who has been analyzing the National Institutes of Health budget for more than two decades for the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, told Bloomberg BNA in a May 23 email. “You have to go back to 1982 to find a cut over 5 [percent].”
