United Healthcare to Face Indiana Emergency Doctors’ Pay Suit

A lawsuit seeking to force United Healthcare Insurance Co. to pay in full for care provided to its members by Indiana emergency doctors can move forward, an Indiana federal judge has ruled.

ECure Indiana Corp.—the doctors’ assignee—stated a claim for unjust enrichment in a complaint alleging that United failed to pay the doctors the customary value of their services, the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana said Thursday, denying in part the insurer’s motion to dismiss.
