Trump Signs Experimental Drug Bill Into Law

People with serious, life-threatening illnesses can sidestep the FDA to get access to experimental medicines under a bill signed into law by President Donald Trump May 30.

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were pivotal in getting the “right to try” bill through Congress, where the proposal enjoyed widespread support from Republicans but had influential detractors. Trump personally pushed Republican leaders to pass the legislation after it languished for months.

Trump said some terminally ill people can’t wait for these drugs to be approved.
