Texas Doctors File Second Lawsuit Over Surprise Billing Rule

The Texas Medical Association filed a second lawsuit against the Department of Health and Human Services over its regulation outlining the process for settling payment disputes between health-care providers and insurers under the No Surprises Act.

The regulation tilts the scale in insurers’ favor in the way it instructs them to calculate an important metric to negotiations, the association said in its complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
