SACHRP Discusses Facebook Study, Plans
To Address Related Issues at Future Meeting

A federal research advisory committee said it plans to issue a statement that a data use agreement wouldn’t constitute informed consent for human subjects research as well as develop recommendations for researchers in nontraditional settings who want to publish their work.

At the end of its two-day meeting July 22, the Health and Human Services Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections directed its subcommittees to develop recommendations after a discussion on exploring ethical and regulatory issues in interventional social media research.
