Regeneron Sues Two Pfizer-Funded Entities
For Infringement of Modified Mouse Patent

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. filed separate lawsuits March 11 in federal district court against Merus BV and Ablexis LLC for infringement of a patent covering the use of genetically engineered animals in drug-development studies (Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. v. Merus B.V.; Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. v. Ablexis LLC).

The company alleged in its complaint against Merus, which is headquartered in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and its complaint against San Francisco-based Ablexis that the two companies were founded by Pfizer and other pharmaceutical companies solely to create “a genetically modified mouse that infringes Regeneron’s intellectual property.”
