Philippines Keeps Virus Curbs, Eyes U.S.’ AstraZeneca Shots (1)

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte extended the second strictest lockdown in the capital region and neighboring provinces for two weeks even as coronavirus cases ease.

Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal will remain under the so-called modified enhanced community quarantine from May 1 to 14, Duterte said in a televised address late Wednesday. The proposal was backed by the health department and health workers, in contrast to mayors who wanted to ease some restrictions.
