ParaGard IUD Broke, Causing Harm, Suit Against Teva Says

Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc. was hit with a suit by a Nebraska woman who alleges her ParaGard intrauterine contraceptive fractured, necessitating surgical removal and putting her at risk for reproductive health complications (Ideus v. Teva Pharm. U.S.A., Inc., D. Neb., 16-03086, complaint 6/13/16).

Teva knew from its own studies, users’ postmarket complaints and other means that the IUD can cause harm through undetected breakage while implanted or breakage while being removed, the complaint alleges.
