NIH Wants Gene Editing Therapies to Reach Clinics Faster

Therapies to treat genetic disorders by repairing the DNA causing the illness could reach patients more quickly under an NIH program announced Jan. 23.

The Somatic Cell Genome Editing program aims to develop tools for safe and effective human genome editing, which uses technologies that give scientists the ability to change an organism’s DNA.
