NIH Pumps $234 Million Into Covid Test Research for Underserved

The NIH poured $234 million into programs to analyze Covid-19 testing patterns and disease progression among vulnerable populations like minorities, older adults, the homeless, and pregnant women, the agency said Wednesday.

The money comes from the National Institutes of Health’s RADx-UP program, part of the federal government’s effort to improve data reporting, testing, and general knowledge about Covid-19.

The money will be sent to clinical research networks around the country to bump up virus testing by creating better ties with vulnerable communities through engagement programs. The funds will also pump more resources toward creating a better data system to track ...
