Moderna Investor Gives Ex-FDA Chief Fresh Shot to Tackle Crisis

Stephen Hahn’s new gig at the venture capital firm that founded Moderna Inc. reinforces how career scientists, not political appointees, drove the FDA’s decisions to make Covid-19 vaccines available.

“While I was responsible, certainly during that time, for the decisions, I did not make that decision myself regarding the vaccines,” said Hahn, who led the agency during the last year of the Trump administration. “There was unprecedented transparency that we had around the data. And I think the data and the actions of the FDA stand for themselves.”
