Medicare Agency Axes Proposed Changes to Curb Drug Price Hikes

The Trump administration isn’t following through on its proposal to cut Medicare drug coverage for certain previously protected medications if the prices increase too much, according to the final rule published May 16.

The initial proposal, which first came out in November, was aimed at giving health-care plans the ability to cut coverage for certain drugs under Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage managed care plans if the prices rose beyond inflation.
