Funding Deemed Key Ingredient for Proposed FDA Disease Hubs

Proposals to create more hubs within the FDA that focus on individual disease drew reservations from the agency’s acting head—unless those expansion plans come with additional funding.

“FDA is a financially constrained organization, and it shows,” Janet Woodcock said in a video released Tuesday as part of the Biopharma Congress’s virtual series. “A center of excellence without additional resources simply causes fragmentation and holds resources from other areas.”
