The former CEO of Indivior PLC pleaded guilty Tuesday to one misdemeanor for his role in the interstate distribution of a misbranded opioid product.
Shaun Thaxter had been the top executive at Indivior—formerly Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals—since 2009. The company misbranded its Suboxone Film, an opioid-use disorder medication that contains opioids, according to Department of Justice officials.
Under the terms of a plea agreement, Thaxter will pay $600,000 in fines and forfeiture and faces up to one year in prison. U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia Judge James P. Jones will sentence Thaxter on Sept. 29.
