The FDA will continue to review potentially risky medical products imported into the U.S. during the partial government shutdown, according to agency Commissioner Scott Gottlieb.
The House and Senate adjourned Dec. 21 as disagreement over funding for the president’s proposed border wall between the U.S. and Mexico prompted a partial government shutdown, affecting federal agencies and their staff, including the Food and Drug Administration. President Donald Trump said Dec. 25 the shutdown will continue until Congress agrees to provide full funding for the wall, which Democratic leaders have indicated they will not support.
