FDA Approves Blood Pressure Drug,
Accepts BLA for Cholesterol Drug

The Food and Drug Administration recently approved a product that increases blood pressure in shock patients, accepted a biologics license application for a cholesterol drug, granted orphan status to a pancreatic cancer treatment, granted breakthrough therapy status to an eye drug intended to treat night blindness and granted fast track status to an Alzheimer’s treatment.

Gilead Sciences Inc. also announced that it has submitted a new drug application to the FDA for an HIV drug.
