Cancer Research Chief Sworn In at NIH

President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the National Cancer Institute, part of the NIH, has officially assumed his new post at the medical research agency.

Norman E. “Ned” Sharpless, became the institute’s 15th director late Oct. 17, after acting Health and Human Services Secretary Eric D. Hargan swore him into office. The president announced the intention to appoint Sharpless in June .
