Cancer ‘Moonshot’ Sets Out to Improve Clinical Trials

The White House cancer “moonshot” initiative is taking aim at improving the clinical trials enterprise, tackling one of the costliest and lengthiest parts of developing new therapies.

Vice President Joe Biden, who is leading the initiative to double the rate on new cancer treatments and prevention therapies, rolled out a series of steps Sept. 16 that are designed both to improve the efficiency of the clinical trials system and to make it easier for patients to find information about experimental cancer treatments.
