Post Ends Pact to Buy Cereal Business From Treehouse Foods

Jan. 13, 2020, 9:23 PM

Post Holdings Inc. says it has terminated an agreement to purchase TreeHouse Foods Inc.’s ready-to-eat (RTE) cereal business, following the Federal Trade Commission’s complaint filed in December 2019.

TreeHouse said Monday that the decision was mutually agreed upon and that it it will re-market the business for sale.

The FTC filed an administrative complaint against the $110 million takeover, which would have given Post a 60% share of the private-label market. The FTC claimed the deal would lead to higher prices.
