DOJ, FTC to Speed Reviews for Firms Teaming Up on Virus

U.S. antitrust agencies announce expedited process for reviewing joint efforts by companies to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

  • Expedited antitrust reviews are aimed at helping businesses quickly address public health and economic needs, the Justice Dept., Federal Trade Commission say in statement
    • Health-care providers may need to work together to treat patients; other businesses may need to temporarily combine production and distribution to provide needed supplies, DOJ and FTC say
  • Agencies will respond to COVID-19-related requests regarding public health and safety within seven calendar days
